What's Emergency Saline Tattoo Removal?
Applying solution to undesired cosmetic tattoo of lips or eyebrows WITHIN 48 hours from recent procedure.
Saline removal after 48 hours
Cosmetic tattoos that are over 48hrs old must wait for approximately 6-8 weeks for skin to heal.
Area of skin MUST be healed to get saline removal to help prevent scarring and avoid excessive trauma.
What’s the procedure like?
- Skin is cleansed and numbing cream is applied for comfort
- The solution is implanted into the tattooed area of the skin using a PMU machine and needle
- The hypertonic solution pulls or “lifts” the tiny particles of tattoo ink to the surface of the skin
- The broken-down pigments form a scab and then sloughs off leaving the area of the tattoo
- lighter
- Process for healing is 8-10weeks
- VERY IMPORTANT to follow pre and aftercare instructions
*May take more than one session to get desired results. There is no way to predict how many
sessions it may take. *
Expectations: (Results can be affected by the following but are not limited to)
- Age of tattoo and quality of ink used
- Depth and darkness of tattoo
- Previous scarring
- Skin condition/skin health
- Individual healing process
- Consistent sessions
- Following pre and after care instructions
Saline removal or Laser?
- Saline removal is a more natural procedure when compared to laser
- Saline removal solution pulls the tattoo ink to surface of the skin via osmosis. Scabs form and then fall off. Laser breaks down the particles and is absorbed by the body.
- Saline hypertonic solution may be a better alternative if the tattoo ink has white mixed with color.
- Lasers work with heat and wavelength of light to match up with ink colors to be removed. It doesn’t remove “white”. (the last I was aware)
- Laser is more expensive than saline tattoo removal
- Laser may be more beneficial option for old tattoos (10yrs+) and very mature skin
- Both Saline and laser procedures present with risks of skin irritation, skin trauma, scarring and hyperpigmentation
